Inviting in the Left out will include a series of works by the people to address what is left out of the discussion for the Presidential and local elections.

Show includes works by: Linda Swanson, Peter Cordova w/ Alison Pebworth, Robert Shetterly, Rural Research Labs, Ryan Singel, Sean Garrison, Tyler Drosdeck, + Chris Sollars, 3rd Debate Q & A, & Top 3 Left out List

 

Linda Swanson - Cradle (In Real Time)
A series of drawings as a process to decipher the TV imaging of the invasion of Iraq. During the day, Linda drew directly from the television picture and drew her daughter sleeping at night. The project expanded into an inquiry regarding place and safety: Why could my child sleep safely through the night and Iraqi children (and their parents) could not go to bed with that same security? Linda is an artist based in Santa Fe, NM.


Peter Cordova w/ Alison Pebworth - Conversations from the Election to Iraq & Presidential Debate TV
Alison interviews Peter about his thoughts on Iraq, the Election, and the current state of the nation. Peter an artist at Creativity Explored, where Alison has been volunteering for 5 years, is a non-profit visual arts center where artists with developmental disabilities create, exhibit, and sell art. http://www.creativityexplored.org/ Alison has an upcoming solo show at 111 Minna Thursday Nov 4.


Robert Shetterly - American's Who Tell the Truth (Cards)

A traveling exhibit of currently 56 non-partisan portraits to remind people of the dignity, courage, and importance of some of America's truth tellers. Rob feels strongly that, unless elected leaders are truthful about their motives and goals, democracy is impossible. Here we are showing cards from the project to generate more interest and to get more public venues for exhibiton. Robert is an artist based in Brooksville, ME. Rural Research Labs - Projects from the "Rural Conditon"
Rural Research Laboratories is loose affiliation of visual artists, writers, and tradespeople created to act as a resource and catalyst for the promotion of an artistic dialogue designed to explore and articulate the unique position rural communities occupy in contemporary America. RRL projects will include the personal Constitution Booklet, a video by Diane Janowski from the Mobile Matinee Project, and audio CD of the color code announcement for drug testing in Bradford County PA. Both projects offer a glimpse into a week's worth of living in Rural America. Rural Research Labs was founded by Tom Oberg who is based in Elmira, NY. http://www.ruralresearchlabs.com/


Ryan Singel - Left out news
Ryan is an up-coming journalist whose focus is on our rights and freedoms affected by anti-terrorism initiatives including the Patriot Act and the airline passenger screening system known as CAPPS. Here he includes some of the left out news and issues. Ryan writes for Wired News and has appeared on Democracy Now and is based in San Francisco, CA. Sean Garrison - Voting is your right, not your responsibility
A simple commentary on the electoral process of the Untied States. Wooden Ballot Box, paper, and paper shredder. Sean is an artist musician based in Oakland, CA who works as a designer.

Two series of prints made from pencil drawings on high-school notebook of a mellowed out bush administration and both the young and old John Kerry together. RAMBO Mujahideen is a video of action hero Rambo fighting with the Mujahideen in Afganistan spliced with news coverage of the September US attack on Afganistan.
