Chris Sollars
Glitter Box
Aug 7 - Sept 7 2010

Glitterbox Presents Chris Sollars a solo exhibition of sculptures, photographs, and videos installed in and around Glitterbox. Ian Colon, director of Glitterbox and who has worked with FiveSevenDelle Project Space and The Butcher Shop in Boston, was initially attracted to Chris Sollars work through his apartment gallery 667Shotwell and the similarities of his practice to Fred Wilson; notorious for his ”Mining the Museum” project at the Maryland Historical Society in Baltimore, showed how malleable the material of present artifacts can be.

By opening GlitterBox to the work of Chris Sollars we hope to allow the viewer to decide where the work ends and begins and give them a lens through which to see what was previously thought of as banal as potentially intentional and valuable. At Glitterbox, Sollars has mined Ian Colon’s collection of works, objects, and archive into an exhibition that creates portrait of the artist, the owner and his space.
