Accumulative Rubbings 2006
Installation at Southern Exposure as a part of the On-Site Education Program (OSEP) and the solo exhibition Accumlative Dissipation.

January 16, 2006 - February 6, 2006

Young artists worked with exhibiting artist Chris Sollars and artist assistant Chelsea Heikes to explore contemporary every-day life. Students investigated personal, neighborhood, and social concerns to create drawings using rubbing techniques and documented actions using video and photography.

These processes enabled participants to experience the cause and effects of actions and change by focusing on scale, mass, and accumulation. The resulting installation included a large scale rubbing of an object and a video of a group action.

Boxes : Video Action around the mailbox.
The series of works that developed with the young artsist scame from their journaled observations of the daily systems that occured around SOEX, primarily the shipping and postal systems. This resulted in the rubbing of an entire street corner, mailbox, the construction of an large envelope, and a box video action around postal mailboxes and shipping containers.
